Kallias (Derived from Greek kallos meaning "beauty") is a One of a Kind, full body sculpture/artdoll created entirely by
hand without the use of molds, he is an original piece, therefore
unique and impossible to reproduce. He has been inspired by the pictures in the wonderful book "Unicorns I have known" by Robert Vavra.
Sculpted from Polymer Clay over a wire armature, his
eyes and horn are hand sculpted and painted. His body is painted with a series of acrylic
washes and soft pastels, and then sealed, to add depth and realism. He is about 6 inches tall and 8 inches long (in his current position). Mounted on his wooden base (also handmade and ebony stained), the whole piece would be 10 and a half inches tall. He is removable from the rod and the rod is removable from the base.
Kallias's mane and tail are made with platinum kid mohair applied lock by
lock. Even the bottom of his hooves are detailed exactly as a real horse's.
